welcome to
Breath by Breath offers fully bespoke fitness, yoga and nutrition programmes for those suffering with an autoimmune disease, fibromyalgia, recovering from illness or chronic pain. I work with each client to plan a programme that is designed to fit the individual’s body and energy levels and adapted to their lifestyle and available time. I will work with you every step of the way to build a stronger, more functioning body from the comfort of your own home.
I know first hand how difficult it is to live with an autoimmune disease, fatigue or chronic pain, because I too live with these challenges. Over the past ten years I have learned to understand how to work with my body’s chronic flare-ups and pain, helping me feel strong in everyday life as well as recover from flare-ups faster. My goal is to teach you how to stay mobile , to protect and strengthen your body and feel more energised. Each workout will work with your body, not against it.
The purpose of my training is to teach the body breath by breath how to move properly during everyday activities while staying pain-free and prevent flare ups. I want to help you practice how to work with the body to build strength and fitness whilst listening to when rest and recovery is needed. This is not about six pack abbs or more pain more gain but rather about getting your body back to participating more fully in life.
If you make the time to show up i will do the rest
Nobody is the same and therefore no body is either. Each individual responds to exercise differently. Not everyone experiences the same symptoms with illness, our triggers are varied, and responses to flare ups can change. How we recover and build the body will also vary. We will work together to find what form of exercise; intensity of fitness and type of movement gives you the best results.
When you are recovering or feeling fatigued, getting to the gym can be the biggest hurdle. Furthermore, keeping mobile should be part of everyday life, where complicated equipment is not needed. I strive to reduce the blocks to exercise and will come to your home at your convenience.
At the core of my holistic approach to health is that training should incorporate the full body and mind. I hope to teach you how to listen to your body, to understand how and when to push to reach peak potential whilst also knowing when you need to rest and recover. We will work to build the full body and mind for a more rounded approach to fitness. With chronic illness there is a fine line between pushing too much and not pushing enough. In my workouts I aim to help you to find the balance in your body so this lesson can be taken into everyday life.
My programs are not a quick fix. We build fitness breath by breath, step by step. I will meet you where your fitness level is at and seek to build life lasting health changes into your life. We will work through movement patterns, correct alignment, and breathing techniques to build a strong core to your fitness.
I understand what it is like to live with a chronic illness, to be in constant pain and deal with the unpredictability and changing energy levels. I train and work hard to be at peak fitness as my passion is competing in marathon distance races. However due to flare-ups of Lupus and medication there have been periods where I have been unable to get out of bed. I understand health is not linear. I have had to learn how to rebuild my body and fitness. I want to share what I have learnt in my own health challenges.
I will help you to get fit physically and mentally. I believe fitness is not just a way to lose weight but also a way to keep in touch with your body and your mind as a whole. Together we will work on how movement makes you feel rather than how it changes the way you look, although body change will happen naturally as a result.
I am a qualified personal trainer, yoga instructor and running coach, I use all three of these aspects as well as my own personal experience to help others become fitter, stronger and more confident.
